Ngāi Tahu Holdings Group - Media Statement

Excerpts from an internal communication between two employees of the Office of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu relating to Ngāi Tahu Holdings Group have been quoted in the media recently.
The Office of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu is a separate organisation from Ngāi Tahu Holdings Group. The Ngāi Tahu Holdings Group Board was not aware of the existence of the document and disputes a number of statements made in the document.
Of particular concern is the statement made regarding the suggested removal of Andrew Harrison from the role of Chief Operating Officer.
The Board of NTHG is aware of the damage and stress that this statement has caused to firstly Andrew and his whanau, and also the wider Ngāi Tahu Holdings Group staff.
The Ngāi Tahu Holdings Group Board wishes to state that it has no intention of removing Andrew Harrison from the role of Chief Operating Officer. Andrew's commitment to the Group has been exemplary and the performance of the organisation under his leadership has been outstanding. The Board continues to have full confidence in Andrew and hopes that he will continue to have a long involvement with the organisation and the iwi.
The Board looks forward to being able to put the events of the last week behind us and to getting on with generating wealth Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu as the shareholder.
