The Ngāi Tahu Fund is an initiative to provide resources to Ngāi Tahu whānui, rūnanga, hapū and whānau groups to strengthen Ngāi Tahu cultural excellence. Nine funding rounds have been completed, contributing $4.47 million to communities throughout New Zealand.
We have received over 626 applications and the Ngāi Tahu Fund Committee, which comprises Ngāi Tahu leaders and funding experts, approved 428 applications that included people wanting to investigate their whānau whakapapa and history, workshops on traditional arts like weaving and carving plus environmental revitalisation projects.
The Ngāi Tahu Fund is a key part of Ngāi Tahu's 2025 Strategy to revitalise culture and give rūnanga and whānau greater opportunities. It has two funding rounds a year for Small Project applications (under $5,000), Medium Project applications ($5,000 -$30,000) and expressions of interest for Large Projects ($30,000 and over).
The next funding rounds close 5pm, Friday 28 September 2012.
