Thank you to all of you who participated in the online survey we conducted in July.  Around 650 people completed the survey and provided a range of feedback and ideas.

We have already responded to some of you that asked specific questions about joining and saving.  We have also updated our Questions and Answers.  Check these out or contact us with any questions.

Key themes

Below are some of the key themes that emerged from your questions and comments.  These include links to relevant sections on the website.  If you don’t think your question has been addressed or you haven’t heard from us directly please contact us.

  • You gave us great ideas for improving the content and workability of the website (this will be an ongoing process) and helped us find and fix some broken links
  • Some of you asked about the performance of the current investment and the proposed change to a conservative investment that will also include some growth assets.
  • Some of you weren’t sure how to check Whai Rawa account information online or didn’t know you could also update your tax and other personal details on the secure site
  • Some of you didn’t know about the limitations on withdrawals and why these are in place
  • Some of you didn’t know that withdrawals can be made anywhere in the world for first home purchase, tertiary education and Over 55 withdrawals.
  • Some of you are major contributors to the Whai Rawa accounts of your mokopuna and want to know more about Whai Rawa and its progress as well as the progress of those you are assisting.  We are looking at options for what further information we can provide and will keep you posted.  Please also be assured the restrictions on withdrawals means your contributions can only be used once the member reaches 16 and only for approved purposes.
  • Some of you weren’t sure about how to deposit money into Whai Rawa or had suggestions for making it easier.  In September we will have an ANZ Australia bank account to enable whānau in Australia to deposit into Whai Rawa via online banking.
  • You gave us good feedback on what incentives work and how we could encourage membership and savings
  • Many of you told us you liked Facebook and over 500 of you have joined our Facebook page and are discussing.  Many of you told us you don’t like Facebook for a range of reasons; we are looking at other options to enable you to interact with us and each other around Whai Rawa.
  • Some of you told us you have not been receiving Te Karaka lately. You now need to opt in to continue receiving Te Karaka.  You can do this by logging in to the secure site, or contacting us (please make sure we have your current address)

Please note: The invitation to participate was sent to all email addresses on the Ngāi Tahu database.  For those of you who missed out on the survey we welcome any feedback on Whai Rawa; contact us now.
