Subsidiary Entities
Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu has a number of subsidiaries to build its resources and deliver its programmes:
Ngāi Tahu Finance provides loans to Ngāi Tahu people to help them start, expand or refine their business. It also provides advice.
Tahu Communications specialises in Māori communications and keeps whānau informed with the tribe’s activities and initiatives.
Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation’s role within the tribe’s function is to grow and develop the economic base for the benefit of future generations and generate sufficient cash flow on an ongoing basis to fund the tribe’s development and administration activities.
Te Tapuae o Rehua was set up in 1998 to increase Māori participation in tertiary education, and ensure high quality course content for Māori tertiary students. The partners are Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology, Lincoln University, Otago Polytechnic, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, the University of Otago and the University of Canterbury.
He Oranga Pounamu Charitable Trust organises and integrates health and social services for Māori in the Ngāi Tahu rohe (area).
