Toitu Te Whenua
Toitū te Whenua/Iwi environment is responsible for:
- Maintaining the integrity of the Ngāi Tahu settlement and implementing its provisions.
- Protecting and enhancing culturally significant sites and natural resources (tangible heritage).
- Influencing and monitoring that the Crown delivers environmental outcomes aligned with Ngāi Tahu policies.
- Protecting and enhancing existing and future Iwi rights.
- Protecting the core Ngāi Tahu tribal infrastructure (including Papatipu Rūnanga).
- Legal support to the merged organisation and Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation.
- Protection of charitable tax status for Te Rūnanga Group.
- Papatipu Rūnanga organisational legal compliance.
- Administering Te Rūnanga electoral system.
- Te Rūnanga secretariat support.
