Ōraka–Aparima

Stewart Bull

Stewart has represented Ōraka-Aparima on Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu since its inception. Prior to settlement he spent time with the negotiating teams advising on mahinga kai.

Stewart is committed to ensuring that consultation and collaboration with whānau is a priority of Te Rūnanga. Interwoven with this is a duty to ensure that the collective interests of Ngāi Tahu iwi receive maximum benefit from the returns produced by Te Rūnanga.

He believes that Te Rūnanga must operate in an efficient manner to protect the rights and privileges of Ngāi Tahu Whanui, be that from a financial, political, educational, health or natural resources perspective.

Stewart sits on a number of committees and boards including: Southland Conservation Board, Te Ao Marama Management Group/Resource Management, Tangata tiaki Kaitiaki/Customary Fish, Pāua 5A Fisheries Plan Advisory Group, Southland Museum and Art Gallery Liaison Committee, Riverton Harbour Board, Te Apārangi, Hazardous Substances and New Organism Committee, Rakiura Tītī Island Administrative Body, Rakiura Tītī Island Committee, Fiordland Marine Guardians.
